Home. Albert Zandvoort

At my quiet practice in Thatcham I offer confidential, client focused psychotherapy and counselling. I also see clients from the UK and the rest of the world on ZOOM.

Through dialogue and the shared exploration of your life, you may find relief from recurring problems, live your life more fully and realise your full potential. Therapy is a personal and individual process of change, as well as understanding.

This is an opportunity to take time and space to think about yourself and the problems you may be facing. By talking to a trained psychotherapist you may find it easier to understand how past experiences, thought patterns and behaviour, or anxieties about the future are causing difficulties in your life. I can help treat anxiety and depression, help you to cope with painful emotions, trauma, addictions, or disabling psychological problems, including psychosexual and relationship difficulties.

In addition to English I can offer therapy sessions in German, Dutch and Afrikaans. If you are unable to attend the practice in person, we can discuss the option of speaking securely online.

Dr Alexandra Popescu

I am a trainee psychodynamic therapist, completing my MA in Psychodynamic counselling and former philosophy lecturer with over twenty years' experience teaching at UK universities. My background in phenomenology has fostered a deep interest in lived experience and the ways we make sense of ourselves, others, and the world. This informs a therapeutic approach that is curious, reflective, and attentive to both the uniquely personal and the wider contexts of people's lives.

Psychodynamic therapy offers an opportunity to explore not only the difficulties that bring you to therapy, but also the often unconscious patterns that have developed over the course of your life. Together, we can begin to understand how past experiences continue to influence the present, opening up new possibilities for self-understanding, relationships, and lasting change. I see therapy as a collaborative process of exploring your experiences with openness, curiosity and care, allowing new understanding to emerge over time.

I welcome people experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, grief, trauma, chronic illness, isolation, relationship difficulties, and feelings of alienation or a loss of meaning. I also have a particular interest in supporting neurodivergent adults, especially those diagnosed later in life, and strive to offer an affirming and inclusive space for LGBTQ+ clients.
